Philosophy/objectives of Regional Development Studies
The School of Regional Development Studies focuses on specialized and comprehensive study of regional development, using the tools of various disciplines to examine challenges in different regions. In the School, we will contribute to the development of culture, welfare, and health, building a sustainable society with a lightened burden on the environment; regions that are flexible and unbreakable, even in unstable and uncertain situations; and a globally inclusive society that flexibly accepts multiculturalism, guaranteeing the dignity and human rights of all and developing people who are capable of contributing to regional development where anyone can actively live with a sense of security.
Teaching objectives
The School of Regional Development Studies can train people capable of being leaders in regional development. To that end, this field addresses itself to the analysis and understanding the natural and cultural resources of the area, tradition, people with potential, funds, and social relations. In addition, it makes use of local autonomy to develop health, welfare, environment, industry, culture, and tourism in the region in the distinctive style of the region. To regenerate and revitalize regions through creation of new value, we foster the ability to plan, design, and formulate policies for regions with distinctive character.
